Fund Your Leadership Coaching Kit: free coaching grant budget template in Word, Excel and PDF

Ask your board, a funder or both to pay for executive coaching, with figures they can check. Work out the cost and the return, give a board member a one-page memo to carry, log the funders that fit, and send a priced grant budget with narrative language ready to adapt. The Excel workbook does the math.

What is inside

  • Cost and return worksheet. The fee, the executive director's time and a conservative return, line by line from salary and operating expenses, with a worked example.
  • Board memo requesting coaching. A one-page memo a board member brings to the committee, and answers to the three usual objections.
  • Funder prospect log. Where to look and what to search for, a log for each funder and six questions for the program officer.
  • Grant budget and justification. A grant budget with every line priced, its justification and the funding sources, confirmed or pending.
  • Grant narrative language. Problem, intervention, evaluation and after-the-grant language to adapt, and answers to three questions reviewers ask.

How to use it

  1. First: fill in Form A, so every later conversation uses the same figures.
  2. Then: check the professional development line and any board-designated fund with the treasurer.
  3. Before the budget meeting: share the memo in Form B with one board member who supports it, and let them take it to the committee.
  4. If the budget cannot cover it: work through Forms C to E with one funder that already knows you.
